| A
brief history!
As
with many chapels, the initial gatherings were in the homes of local
people : in this case Edward Jones and John Llwyd. The first chapel
called "The Rose" was opened in September 1838 and is the current
home of James Griffiths - a regular member of the congregation.
This served as the spiritual meeting place for over 50 years including
the period 1889-1891 while the current chapel was being built. A
winter storm finally forced the vacation of "The Rose", with the
proceeds of £17, meeting the final installment of the loan outstanding
on the new chapel.
In
September 1988 the chapel celebrated the 150th anniversary of establishing
the Wesleyan (Methodist) cause in the area. In 1938, when the 100th
anniversary was held, a small booklet was published.
